No, I’m not looking to dump ice water on my head. Already took care of that, I donated money to the ALS of New York and yesterday they sent me a Lou Gehrig bobblehead doll. Nice.
No, I’m not looking for a financial donation or anything like that. The Blackbird is running quite well, I’m still way ahead of schedule on car payments.
This is kind of important, though.
Something happened 28 years ago today, and I feel like commemorating it.
See, at about 11:09 a.m. on August 20, 1986…
My daughter Cassaundra was born.
Now I could do a K-Chuck Radio mini-post, featuring “Happy Birthday” songs from “Weird Al” Yankovic…
As well as a “Happy Birthday” pop version by the Ting Tings…
Or a montage of Dragon Ball Z clips, as set to the melody of “The Happy Birthday Song,” as performed by the Arrogant Worms…
Yeah, I could do that.
Or I could note that Cassaundra shares her birthday with Number 7, as well as Number 7’s companion…
And with the lead singer of Led Zeppelin…
And with the lead singer of Thin Lizzy…
But I’d like to do something else.
No, I’m not looking to dump ice water on her head. She’d probably punch me if I did. Plus, I’d have to dump the ice water from 3,000 miles away.
No, I’m not looking for a financial donation for her or anything like that. She works hard for her money.
Actually, this is what I want, and I hope you – my loyal readers – can help me out.
Cassaundra’s turning 28 today. Twenty-eight years old. That’s like having your seventh birthday four times, I guess.
If you’re able, please feel free to post in the comments section of this blog a “Happy Birthday” or two, and maybe a memory of what it was like when you turned 28. That would be cool.
Because you really only get one shot at this life. One chance. You start on the track and you continue running until God says, “Here’s the finish line.”
Cassaundra’s still got a lot of laps on the track to complete.
And I’m glad of that.
So yeah, let’s all wish her a Happy Birthday.
That would be totally cool.
Happy 28th, Cassaundra 🙂 When I was 28, I thought I was getting old because I was “pushing 30.” Now I’m 53. Enjoy all of the young years still ahead of you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Cassaundra!! May your day be FILLED with love, laughter and lots of birthday wishes! I don’t remember my 28th–which means I either celebrated it with too much gusto or early onset dementia is happening! Make today one you’ll remember fondly…sing out loud, eat chocolate and celebrate being YOU!

Cassaundra,
Happy Birthday. We share a birthday month, but not a birthday day, and certainly not a birthday year. (I was 38 when you were born, so the math shouldn’t too hard). I was 28 in the 1970’s, and the only exciting thing I remember was taking flying lessons. That was a good time in my life.
Enjoy 28!

When I was 28, I was working at a comic book store, and I ended up learning a lot of stuff about retail and publishing. All the lessons are good, even the ones that don’t seem so.
Happy birthday, Cassaundra!

Happy Birthday Cassaundra! We all feel we know you somewhat through your father’s blog. My birthday wish for you is that you begin to see yourself as the fantastically successful, talented, awesome individual your dad (and probably many other close friends and relatives) see you as. One thing I remember most from my late twenties/early thirties is I always judged myself too harshly. Don’t concentrate so much on what you don’t have or what you “thought” you would accomplish by now. Accept and embrace all you have done so far and look forward to all you have ahead of you. Many, many happy returns.

Dear Cassandra:
Happy Birthday. I married someone; thought I finally reached adulthood. I divorced him, remarried and at 50 am finally feeling like life is really good. Enjoy your youth but know that it can only get better.
Blessings and Be well.

Happy Birthday Cassaundra…what a beautiful name! I hope your 28th birthday is filled with smile after smile, and blessing after blessing today. I hope you realize that there is only one of you in this world. Only you can give the world your smile, your gifts, your talents, and your uniqueness 🙂 Pursue your passions and interests with vigor and you will find life rewarding (not always easy, but rewarding!)
At 28 yrs. old, I was the mother of 3, wife of an active duty Military man in the Army, and lived just off base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Today, I’m 46, the mother of 4, we’re out of the Army- and settled here in upstate NY. The best advice I could give you, is to everyday give thanks out loud for the blessings in your life…even the smallest ones:) Focusing and magnifying the blessings will keep you positive and hopeful in the midst of difficulties.
From me to you- Blessings and smiles, and best wishes on your birthday, a day the world got brighter, because you entered it…. 🙂

Happy birthday Cassaundra! 28 was a particularly good year for me – I was living in Texas, finishing my first year of graduate school, and got married a few months after my birthday (we just celebrated our 15th anniversary). The late 20s/early 30s are a time I remember fondly – I hope they are as rewarding and fulfilling for you!

Happy Birthday to Cassaundra!
I turned 28 in 2002. I don’t remember what it was like, probably because I was busy running around after a toddler! Even between then and now, it’s been a blur, but a happy one. There’s lots of good stuff ahead for you – enjoy every moment!

A very Happy Birthday to you Cassaundra! Wishing you many more! I remember when I turned 28. I was still partying like I did when I was 19. I think I finally grew up when I turned 40.

And no birthday would be complete without “Happy Belated Birthday!” wishes, Cassaundra.
At 28 I was married with two children – a third to arrive the following year – and had just bought my first house.
And by that age, I figured I had learned everything in life that there was to learn. I’m now pushing 65…and still learning, by the way.
